EDISON, CALIFORNIA
The Lehr Brothers run a food processing facility near Bakersfield. WorldWater & Solar Technologies, Corp. sized the solar power system to offset the on-site electrical usage charges for the facility’s 350 horsepower hydracooler compressor pump and other equipment. The installation was completed in March 2003.
The total of 119 kW of PV arrays provides an average of 565 kW hours per day of electricity. In addition, the 10,000 square feet of array space is on two raised structures, which provide much-needed shade for farm equipment in the hot Bakersfield sun. During the off-season, the solar-generated electricity builds sufficient credit, via net metering, to reduce the Lehr’s annual electric usage bill to zero.
