The
Dream of Solar Energy for New Jersey Schools Is
Now a Reality
Solar
Projects on Schools Can Receive 100% Grant Funding

- Right
now, New Jersey schools can opt to have solar
energy systems installed with up to 100% of the
capital cost paid by two State-run programs:
- The
New Jersey Clean Energy Program provides 60%
of the cost of the solar energy system through
the Customer Sited Renewable Energy Program (www.njcep.com),
and
- The
Schools Construction Corporation will augment
this capital investment with a grant of up to
40% of the cost through the Section 15 Grant
Agreement process (www.njscc.com).
The
more solar the schools install, the greater the
savings to the school district!
- Hundreds
of solar energy systems have already been installed
in New Jersey, including school-based systems.
- New
Jersey has the best net-metering regulations
in the country. The school’s electric bill
will be reduced at the full retail rate for each
unit of energy produced from the solar energy
system.
- A
solar energy system can be installed on the roof
of a school without any roof penetrations. The
solar energy system is designed to automatically
serve the power needs of the school in parallel
with its traditional utility.
Why
Should My School Partner with WorldWater & Power
Corp.?

Following
a formal groundbreaking ceremony on February 5,
2004, construction began on installation of the
nation’s largest photovoltaic (PV) system
on a community college campus. The total
construction contract of $8.9 million was awarded
to Contra Costa Electric of Bakersfield, CA, which
selected WorldWater & Power Corp. for the exclusive
PV systems supply. The project was completed in
June 2004.

The
one megawatt system is expected to supply 60 percent
of the college’s total energy requirements
and provide approximately $300,000 per year in
energy savings, according to college officials.
The
project design consists of 6-1/2 acres of ground
mounted Sharp Electronics solar modules and a freestanding
concrete building that houses the inverters, distribution
equipment and that also allows for student laboratory
space.
